Noel is a passionate, empathetic voice on both the big important stuff (systematic racism, police violence) and on the fun, silly stuff (Game of Thrones, why Batman had nipples). Noel has incredible foresight on the arts beat, knowing what is going to be culturally relevant well before Twitter does, and with the Great Flattening of modern culture, he will help your content stick out.

About Me
Noel Ransome is a journalist fueled by curiosity and a knack for moving through the intersections of culture, identity, and storytelling. He established his style at Urbanology Magazine, where he helped shape its editorial voice as Associate Editor, before earning a degree in Journalism and Film Studies from York University. From there, he spent three years at VICE Media as a lead culture essayist and interviewer, pushing at the edges of how identity and ideology get framed beyond the so-called rules of objectivity.
Along the way, he’s sat down with LeVar Burton, Barry Jenkins, and Danai Gurira and held down a stint as national entertainment reporter for the Canadian Press, where he covered everything from TIFF to the Grammys to the Emmys. And because he doesn’t believe in being a one-trick anything, Noel also brings range in photography, videography, design, and SEO—skills he even put into building this very site. He’s still chasing the next story, the next project, the next way to stretch himself in a media landscape that continues to change.
Noel's work is a breath of fresh air against the backdrop of often unbearable whiteness in mainstream media. Whether connecting the dots between pop culture and societal issues or exploring racism, often sharing his own raw lived experiences, Noel's voice is absolutely crucial.

Essays & Critique
Noel Ransome has a skill that is rare in Canadian journalism: to make an essay into a moment. Whether he's sharing stories from his own life, or breaking down the politics of the latest blockbuster comic book movie, his writing challenges readers to stop and reckon with the subject. His own reckoning is so personal and from-the-heart, I feel like I'm on the same journey every time I edit his work.
